As part of Council’s adopted 2014/15 Capital Works Program, funding was allocated to upgrade the local playground adjoining The Mall shopping centre in, Warrimoo Ave St Ives . This work has been assisted with a NSW Department of Sport and Recreation Capital Assistance Grant.
The playground was identified as a priority as the existing equipment had reached the end of its useable asset life and was dismantled for recycling. The existing swings remain still in good condition.
The new equipment has a jungle theme and includes a play unit with climber and slide, a small swinging bridge, a spring ride and a jeep that can stimulate imaginative games by children aged from 2 to 10 years old. The playground design incorporates rubber softfall to enable inclusive play to encourage children to play together and become part of the game. The playground includes an additional seat and new shade tree planting.
The work to replace the playground equipment is now complete.
