Help local families in need

The Christmas Appeal is for donations of presents and food to help make the festive season a happier time for people in need within the local community.

The donations will then be distributed to local people in need by Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury, who will be delivering hampers to people in need across Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby.

The Mayor's Christmas Appeal will be open till 5pm on Friday 14 December. 

Accepted gifts and food

Recipient ages range from babies right up to people in their nineties both male and female and regardless of race, gender or religious beliefs.

All gifts must be new and unwrapped. Food items (non-perishable) suitable for a Christmas meal can also be donated.

Hamper suggestions:

  • Assorted sweets
  • Chocolates
  • Festive/savoury biscuits
  • Mixed nuts
  • Soft drink
  • Tinned ham
  • Bon bons
  • Christmas cake/pudding
  • Long life custard
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Tinned beetroot/fruit
  • Tinned salmon/tuna

Collection locations

Donations of unwrapped gifts and food items suitable for hampers can be left:

1) Council Chambers' customer service centre at 818 Pacific Highway Gordon

2) Any Ku-ring-gai Library branch. Our libraries are located at Gordon, Turramurra, Lindfield and St Ives

3) Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury at 4 Park Avenue Gordon

Online donations

Online donations are also accepted, with all funds raised between now and Friday 14 December will be going towards buying hamper items for the Mayor's Christmas Appeal.
