Would your community group, school or daycare centre like to hear about recycling, building native gardens or improving energy efficiency in the home?

Council is happy to offer free* sustainability and environmentally themed talks for Ku-ring-gai residents and community groups. If you can organise a venue and promote the event to your audience, we will supply an experienced speaker to deliver a presentation on the subject of your choice. And it’s free!

This offer is perfect for community groups, school P&Cs, service agencies, workplaces and more.

Select your preferred topic from the options below and complete the enquiry form. We will contact you to arrange the details.

Sustainable Homes

A sustainable home is site-sensitive, water-wise, energy-efficient, and accessible, minimises waste and is comfortable to live in. Learn how you can achieve all of this on your own property.

Energy Smart

Understand your bills and take charge of your energy use; save money with practical advice that will help you use energy more efficiently.

Water Smart

Learn how rainwater tanks, raingardens and other measures can help you save water and contribute to the improved health of Ku-ring-gai’s waterways. Includes water-saving tips and advice on rebates available from Council.

Compost Revolution

Over-consumption and the rubbish it creates is a growing problem for our community.  Keeping a worm farm or composting at home is easy to do, provides nutrient rich food for your garden and avoids sending food scraps to landfill.

Love Food Hate Waste

NSW households throw away more than $2.5 billion worth of edible food per year – this is like throwing $1,000 straight in the bin. Get tips on how to improve your shopping, meals and food storage to avoid food and packaging waste, and save money.

Edible Gardens

There is nothing quite as rewarding as growing your own food. Discover what’s needed to start a thriving edible garden at your home.

Gardening for the Environment

Choosing eco-friendly materials, water saving tricks, habitat creation and stopping weed invasion. There are so many ways you can minimise environmental impacts and enhance biodiversity in your garden.

Climate Wise Communities

A changing climate means increasing likelihood of extreme weather events. This hands-on workshop explores your risks, strengths and vulnerabilities. Together we can be better prepared and build a more resilient community.

Sustainable Business

Better Business Partnership works with local businesses to reduce energy and water use, and improve their environmental performance. This also provides better choices for the community to support local business. Find out how you can join, or encourage your local business to be more sustainable.
