Sustainability training for trades and professions

Ku-ring-gai Council has been actively promoting sustainable building and renovating through our events and online resources. There is a lot of demand for tradespersons and professionals working in this area but finding people who understand their sustainability aspirations has been challenging for home owners.

Council now encourages tradespersons and professionals who live or provide service* in the Ku-ring-gai Council area an opportunity to upskill by offering a rebate towards the cost of acquiring a green skills qualification or doing specialised courses in their area of work. Trades and professions covered include painters, plumbers, electricians, home renovators, handymen, architects, real estate agents, planners and designers. Some of the courses we have identified are given below.

A scholarship of $250, or 80% of the course amount, whichever is less, will be offered to tradespersons and professionals living or servicing the Ku-ring-gai local government area (LGA)*. Funds available are limited and will be offered on a first-come-first-served basis to those who complete a course by 15 June 2017.

  1. Contact us if you have enrolled for any of these courses and plan to claim this rebate immediately.
  2. To claim reimbursement of the eligible rebate, your certificate of completion and fee invoice copy should be received by 15 June 2017.

The following courses currently on offer are eligible for scholarships. If your preferred course is not listed below and will help you acquire similar skills, please contact us with details and we can look into adding it to this list. For any questions you may have about this program, you can call Jyoti Shankar on 94240972 or email.

* Interested persons should be able to provide evidence of their work in Ku-ring-gai LGA by providing copies of at least three invoices for jobs carried out within the last six months OR providing a recent utility bill as evidence of your home / business address, if you live within the LGA.
