Flood risk management

To ensure Council planning, environmental staff, state emergency services and the community have a thorough understanding of local flood issues and potential solutions, Council is following the NSW Government’s Flood Prone Land Policy and Floodplain Development Manual (2005).
These documents have been prepared to guide councils in achieving sound floodplain risk management outcomes that reduce private and public losses and impacts from flooding. This is done through a floodplain risk management process (as shown in the diagram below) which involves the development of floodplain risk management studies and plans.
