During December 2019 and January 2020, the flying fox colony was badly affected by heat stress due to extreme temperatures.
As a result many flying foxes in the colony have died.
Council staff and NSW Government agencies are working together to manage the impact to the colony and local residents.
Council is also notifying residents in the immediate vicinity of the park about what they should do if they find deceased bats on their property.
The fact sheet also gives details of how to handle deceased flying foxes (pdf. 2MB).
