Regional parks are large public reserves that provide multiple recreation opportunities and attract out-of-area visitors because they offer unique attractions, eg. a showground, visitors centre, aquatic centre.
Regional parks are large and able to accommodate large numbers of visitors for special events and annual festivals. Regional Parks in Ku-ring-gai Council LGA include:

District Parks have features that attract people from outside the immediate neighbourhood which include unique landscape character or large areas of open space for recreation.
Landscape Masterplans are used to guide improvements and increased use while acknowledging the existing natural and cultural heritage of the site for the future.
The master planning process encourages community consultation from the design concept stage through to the production of the completed plan which is then adopted by Council to implement as funding becomes available.
The Masterplan identifies priorities for improvements over a 10-15 year period.
