St Ives Shopping Centre and Bus Interchange Project

Council has been successful in gaining funding from through Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) to introduce traffic calming measures in the St Ives Shopping District & Bus Interchange. 

Concept design

 The concept design (approved by RMS) proposes the following:

Cowan Road, St Ives

  • 40 km/h speed limit between Mona Vale Road and Kanoona Avenue
  • Speed cushions along this section
  • A roundabout at Village Green Parade Intersection
  • A slow point treatment south of Kanoona Avenue

Memorial Avenue, St Ives

  • 40 km/h speed limit between Mona Vale Road and Killeaton Street
  • An entry treatment near Mona Vale Road
  • A pedestrian refuge island between Village Green Parade and Killeaton Street

Denley Lane, St Ives

  • 10km/h Shared Zone (pedestrian and vehicle)

Community consultation

Council will undertake resident consultation with Cowan Road and Memorial Avenue residents and St Ives Shopping Centre Management. The consultation will conducted in late July via letter box drop or direct mail. The comments received on the proposal will be included in a report to Ku-ring-gai Traffic Committee by November 2019. 

Council will then consider the Committee’s recommendations before approving the project.

Please note: There are 2 pedestrian refuge islands in Cowan Road to assist pedestrians to cross the road safely.  Another pedestrian refuge island is proposed to assist pedestrians crossing Memorial Avenue.
