Council is seeking comment from the community on the Draft Ku-ring-gai Development Control Plan – Greenweb Map Amendment.
The Ku-ring-gai Development Control Plan is a planning document that provides detailed guidelines to supplement and support the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015.
Greenweb is Ku-ring-gai’s biodiversity mapping for the management of significant vegetation and habitat, biodiversity corridors and waterways.
The amendment seeks to extend the application of the Greenweb Maps at Part 18R.1 of the Ku-ring-gai DCP to apply to areas previously deferred from the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015.
During the preparation of the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015, Council deferred 13 areas from inclusion within the plan in order to undertake further assessment on appropriate land use zoning and development standards, recognising the high bushfire evacuation risks in these areas. As these areas were not included in the KLEP 2015, the planning controls applying to these areas are contained in the old Ku-ring-gai Planning Scheme Ordinance and multiple associated DCPs.
Council prepared a planning proposal to include the 13 deferred areas into the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015. The planning proposal was publically exhibited November - December 2016.
On 2 May 2017, Council resolved to adopt the planning proposal for the deferred areas. The planning proposal has been sent to the Department of Planning for finalisation. Once finalised, the deferred areas will be incorporated into the KLEP 2015, at which time they will also be covered by the Ku-ring-gai DCP.
Currently, the Greenweb Maps contained at Part 18R.1 of the Ku-ring-gai DCP do not cover the areas that were deferred from the KLEP 2015. It is necessary to amend the Greenweb Maps to include these areas to ensure biodiversity and significant vegetation within these areas is adequately managed.

These amended Greenweb Maps will replace the existing Greenweb Maps at Part 18R.1 of the existing Ku-ring-gai DCP adopted 14 June 2016. The maps have been amended to apply to areas previously deferred from the KLEP 2015. No other amendments are proposed.
