Whenever you use our web site, or any other web site, the computer on which the web pages are stored (the Web server) needs to know the network address of your computer so that it can send the requested web pages to your Internet browser. The unique network address of your computer is called its "IP address", and is sent automatically each time you access any Internet site. From a computer's IP address, it is possible to determine the general geographic location of that computer, but otherwise it is anonymous.
When you browse this website the following information may be recorded by Ku-ring-gai Council's Internet Service Provider for statistical purposes:
- Your server address
- Your domain name
- The date and time of your visit to the site
- The pages accessed and documents downloaded
- The previous site visited
- The type of browser used
When you register, we ask you for your e-mail address and record it to allow Council to send you important messages relating to your transactions and it will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it.
For more information about how Ku-ring-gai Council protects your privacy view the Privacy Management Plan.pdf (341KB)
Ku-ring-gai Council does not keep a record of the IP addresses from which users access our site except where you have specifically provided us with information about yourself, in which case we will use your IP address for security purposes. An example of this would be when proceeding to the payment page hosted by the Westpac Bank to finalise your transaction. After completing the form provided by the Bank, your IP address will be used to return you back to our site along with a transaction number that allows us to track your payment status.
