The Deferred Areas are areas that were deferred from inclusion in the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015.
The Ku-ring-gai Planning Scheme Ordinance applies to all development within a Deferred Area.

Bushfire evacuation risk areas
13 areas identified as high bushfire evacuation risk areas which were deferred to allow reassessment of excavation risk and proposed zoning changes.
The areas are identified on the following maps:
Council prepared a Planning Proposal to include these 13 areas into the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015. The Planning Proposal was exhibited from 17 November 2016 – 16 December 2016. At the Council meeting of 2 May 2017 Council resolved to adopt the planning proposal.
The Department of Planning and Environment gazetted the plan on 19 January 2018 and the plan comes into effect on 2 February 2018.
Savings Provision relating to Development Applications – the savings provision at Clause 1.8A of the KLEP 2015 applies. This means that any Development Application that is lodged prior to 2 February 2018 will still be determined under the Ku-ring-gai Planning Scheme Ordinance. Any Development Applications lodged after 2 February 2018 will be assessed under the Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan 2015.
Land identified in the vicinity of ‘The Briars’, Wahroonga
An area of land has been identified in the vicinity of ‘The Briars’ 14 Woonona Avenue, Wahroonga. This land includes 16 & 18 Woonona Avenue (also known as 2-14 Everett Way) and 3-13, 15, 17, 19 Bundarra Avenue South, Wahroonga.
This area was deferred to allow reassessment of the R4 High Density Zone and Development Standards in this location. The area is identified on the following map:
Land at Killara Golf Club
An area of land at Killara Golf Club. The land comprises Lot 2 DP535219 and is located at the eastern portion of the Golf Club. The area was deferred to allow reassessment of the RE2 Private Recreation zoning on this parcel of land, which was previously zoned part Residential 2(b) under the Ku-ring-gai Planning Scheme Ordinance. The area is identified on the following map:
