Council is seeking public comment on the draft ‘Commercial Leasing Policy 2019’ placed on public exhibition between Friday 6 September 2019 and Friday 4 October 2019.
The draft Policy has been prepared following a review of the current Commercial Leasing Policy, approved by Council on 10 June 2014. If adopted by Council, the draft Policy will supersede the current Policy.
The ‘Commercial Leasing Policy 2019’ sets out the framework, responsibilities and processes for leasing and licensing Council and Crown owned land.
Changes from the 2014 Policy include formatting changes and the insertion of references to Crown Land as a result of the new Crown Land Management Act 2016 and the associated Native Title requirements.
It also advises that there is a fee involved in obtaining Native Title advice which is included in Council’s adopted Fees and Charges. Furthermore the policy also provides the opportunity to impose sales based rents for certain commercial operations.
