Toolang Sportsground, St Ives Chase

Council is considering a new off leash dog park at Toolang Sportsground in St Ives Chase.

We are seeking the views of the local community about this proposal before we make a final decision.

What is being proposed

Toolang Sportsground has been proposed as an alternative to the existing off leash dog park at Warrimoo Oval. This is due to Warrimoo Oval’s extensive use as a sportsground during winter and its proposed change to a synthetic turf field.

A public petition supporting Toolang Sportsground as an off leash dog park was received by the Council in April 2020.

If the synthetic surface is installed at Warrimoo Oval, the site will no longer continue as an off leash dog park. Toolang Sportsground would be a suitable alternative due to its close proximity and its underutilisation as a sportsground The map below outlines the proposed location of the off leash dog area.

If a leash free dog park is established at the site new facilities will be installed such as fencing, seating, appropriate pathways, dog bag dispensers and disposal bins, a bubbler/tap and appropriate signage.

Note that the establishment of this new off leash dog park is dependent on the synthetic surface being installed at Warrimoo Oval.
