Decorating slip casting objects - new class!

When: Monday
Time: 7pm - 9.30pm
Fee: $300* per nine-week term including firing and glazing of class work
Tutor:  Chris Suttie
Course No: 8

This course will see students learn to cast objects in the slip using the available moulds. This technique of decorating lets students use slip casting techniques other than underglaze for decorating. This technique allows students to work with methods that require the clay to be damp and then, once fired, underglaze and/or glaze their work to get the effects they want. Students can also decorate available slip cast objects that are re-fired (bisqued) using underglaze colours. This technique will allow students to work with painting techniques using underglaze, utilise stencil and paper, resist techniques, and repetition stamp techniques.
* Additional costs for bisque earthenware
