The Art Centre offers classes for all levels of experience and ability. Our classes are held in light, airy studios providing a stimulating atmosphere in which to work.

Painting - the first steps and beyond

When: Monday

Time: 7pm - 9.30pm

Fee: $240 per nine-week term

An introduction to the world of painting. Acrylics are the perfect medium for a person who wishes to learn how to paint. It is easy to handle and very forgiving. Acrylics also allow the painter to explore the extraordinary textures and techniques this wonderful medium allows. This course has been designed to develop the skill and to build the confidence of a beginner.

The fundamentals of drawing and watercolour - new class!

Sculpture (night)

When: Monday

Time: 7pm - 9.30pm

Fee: $280 per nine-week term (including four model sessions and firing of class work)

Using life models as inspiration explore the sensuous, tactile qualities of sculptural form in clay. Students will also be guided through individual, self-initiated projects, exploring a variety of media such as soapstone, sandstone, plaster, resins and mixed media.

An ideal course for beginners or those wishing to improve their painting and drawing skills. Enjoy the learning process - be guided through the basic principles of painting and drawing, including tone, line, composition and perspective. Experience handling a variety of media including pastels, pencil, ink, watercolour and acrylic paint. Through these processes students are encouraged to explore and develop their own exciting and personal expression.

Guitar for teens (beginners) 12+ years

A beginners introduction to the guitar, targeted to students aged 12 years and older. Structured for teens who are both beginners or have minimal experience with the guitar. Students will learn good technique, basic chords, lead melody exercises as well as popular songs in a relaxed approach.

The art of watercolour

Quick, transparent,  expressive watercolours. Learn how to draw and paint with watercolour combining components of nature, animals and the human figure.
