Bush birthday parties

Our bush birthday parties offer a range of unique outdoor activities that encourage children to explore their natural environment in a fun and positive way. All activities are nature-themed to suit the interest of your child and incorporate hands-on activities like bug hunting, bush walking, plant propagation, fauna encounters, dipnetting and organic bush crafts.

You will have your own ranger to entertain the children and the grown-ups too!  Parents are welcome to bring food to serve after the activities.

A great alternative to the traditional indoor party experience!

Bush Detectives

The bush is full of animals, but where could they be? We'll meet some sneaky creatures, then head into the bush to sharpen our observation skills and learn about the clues and traces that help us see what the animals have been up to.

Bush Fairies and Dragons

The bush is alive with tiny, fairy-like creatures. Who are they? Discover how these little animals help keep the Wildflower Garden’s plants and animals happy and healthy.

Dinosaur Ancestors – Surviving Extinction

All the creatures found in the Wildflower Garden today evolved from prehistoric ancestors. Join us for a prehistoric tour to meet some reptiles from long ago, ancient pine trees and fern forests, and our collection of fossils from the middle Triassic.

Little Green Fingers

Let’s get grubby! Uncover the wonderful world of plants, learn what they need to grow, and venture into the bush to explore our native flora. Each child will plant their own seed in a pot to take home.

Minibeast Madness

Shrink down to the marvellous world of minibeasts! Rangers will bring one of their six-legged friends to meet your party and then lead your group into the bush for a big bug hunt.

Themes for younger kids (2-5 years)

These themes are available for daytime parties.

Bush Buddies

Come and meet some friendly creatures as we get to know some of the Wildflower Garden's local inhabitants. We'll find out where they live and what they eat for lunch!

Bush Senses

Bring your eyes and ears and mouth and nose to explore the bush with all of our senses! We'll be touching, smelling, looking and listening on our nature adventure.

Themes for older kids (6-12 years)

Bush Survival

What would you do if you and your friends were lost out in the bush? Learn essential survival skills such as compass-work, navigating across country, identifying bush foods, and building an emergency shelter.

Nature Studio

Bring out your creative side with arts and crafts inspired by nature. We'll make a big bush sculpture together, learn the finer skills of botanical drawing or nature sketching, and create a beautiful craft work to take home.

Spotlight Prowl

When the sun sets the bush transforms into a private place of shadows and mystery. Join the ranger for a night time adventure by torchlight, and discover the truth about the happenings of the bush after dark.
