We have 20 registered educators operating from their homes throughout Ku-ring-gai. They are each registered under our family day care scheme and are supported by experienced, qualified early childhood teachers.

What we do
We provide long day care in a home based environment for babies and children between 0 and 5 years. Care groups are small and family based so that siblings can share the same familiar and secure environment with the one educator. In some instances we can also provide before and after school or vacation care for children aged 6 to 13 years. Educators are screened before registration and all have a minimum Certificate III in Children’s Services. Many of our educators have a Diploma level qualification and we also have an early childhood teacher with ability to work with children with additional needs. All staff and educators are required to have first aid certificates including how to manage asthma and anaphylaxis. Certificates are renewed every three years and CPR certifications are renewed every 12 months. We also ensure that all educators and staff maintain current working with children checks – including anyone residing in their homes over the age of 18.
Educator’s homes are checked for healthy and safe learning environments and staff visit educators on a regular basis to monitor compliance and safety issues. Educator registrations are renewed annually along with a safety audit.
Each educator provides an educational program for each child in their care delivered under the Early Years Learning Framework. This framework is a nationally based learning framework for all child care services required under national regulations and standards. Qualified staff assist educators in the development and delivery of their program. Each child has a documented program that is developed with consultation from families and available to them whenever requested. We also run weekly playgroups which are well resourced with equipment and run by an early childhood teacher. Playgroups run Tuesdays to Fridays each week between 9.30 and 11.30am.
A well-resourced Coordination Unit oversees the operations of educators and ensures all national standards and regulations are consistently met.
Ku-ring-gai Family Day Care provides high quality and flexible long day care for children 0-5 years of age in homes of selected educators who respect each child’s individuality.
Emphasis is place on the provision of quality childcare within a learning environment, providing an extension to the child’s own family environment.

Multicultural and bi-lingual educators from a range of backgrounds, experience and cultures allowing us to meet the needs of families within our local community. Offering long day care for working families, on a permanent basis, casually, before or after school care and care during school holiday periods. On short notice and can accommodate in case of emergencies. Having 20 educators registered with our scheme allows families the flexibility of alternative arrangements if their regular educator is closed. Qualified, experienced and friendly staff at our coordination unit are on hand to discuss your needs and assist with placements and referrals.
Families can choose which educator best suits their needs and visits to individual educators homes are arranged before care starts. This also helps to develop understandings and trust between educators, families and children. Having the one educator consistently allows the development of an educational program that meets your child’s specific needs, interests, cultural and learning requirements. A home like environment also allows you as the parent to get to know your educator well and become directly involved in your child’s education and care. Educators set their own fees in consultation with the coordination unit. Government subsidies are available to all eligible families.
