National Quality Framework
The Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations introduced a new National Quality Framework (NQF) in 2012 for Out of School Hours Care (OOSH) called 'My Time Our Place'.
The framework aims to create a rich environment for play. Under the NQF, we have to meet new standards designed to give children the best possible start in life through high quality early childhood education and care.
The National Quality Framework includes:
- A national legislative framework that consists of the Education and Care Services National Law and Education and Care Services National Regulations
- A national quality standard
- An assessment and rating system
- A regulatory authority in each state and territory with primary responsibility for the approval, monitoring and quality assessment of services in their jurisdiction
