Over 15,000 people came to enjoy a fantastic day of fun, food and entertainment at Ku-ring-gai Council’s annual Festival on the Green event on Sunday May 1 at St Ives Village Green.
Families flocked to make the most of the huge variety of free entertainment and activities that were on offer this year. A highlight was the outdoor ice rink where hundreds of people got their skates on with all sessions completely booked out for the whole day.
Young fans of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell and Captain Hook were delighted by the fun and interactive live show as well as the opportunity to meet and greet the popular children’s characters.
The interactive 9D movie proved popular with people coming out of the ride looking windswept and delighted! Laser Tag was also popular with children and their parents, competing against each other amongst the trees on the Village Green.
There were a lot more amusement rides this year at the event on William Cowan Oval – including a paddle boat ride for little kids, mini jeeps, a giant slide, an some adrenaline-charged larger rides including the Sizzler and Body Rocker.
Community performances throughout the day demonstrated the high level of talent we have here in our community. The event featured outstanding singers, dancers, actors/actresses and musicians from local schools and community performance groups
The wide array of arts and crafts, gourmet food stalls from around the globe, and various community and Council stalls were busy all day.
