Please ensure food brought to the Centre does not contain nuts or nut products.

Does your child have allergies, asthma, other health issues or special needs? We must be notified in advance if the attendee has an Epi-pen or medication. You must also send us an Action Plan prior to attending class. If your child turns up without an Epi Pen or with out of date medication, they cannot attend the class.

Pottery ‘Let’s Play with Clay!’

Clay has natural appeal and children love creating with this tactile medium. A long coil of clay can become a lizard, a bowl or a favourite character. The possibilities are endless and children enjoy this freedom to use their imagination for creative storytelling through their clay pieces.

Working with clay is a multisensory activity, a whole body experience that builds dexterity and encourages both gross and fine motor development. It fosters hand-eye coordination, boosts self-esteem and its calming effect assists with attention span. Come along to the pottery studio to learn basic hand building techniques, with or without previous experience each child will have a wonderful time designing and crafting their very own piece of ceramic art.

Did you know that some of the best loved stories and poems were inspired by gardens? 

Think “Alice in Wonderland”, “The Secret Garden”, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and more recently, Andy and Terry’s “Treehouse” series. In this workshop, we will read some classic garden stories and poems and explore the Arts Centre’s gardens and parklands to uncover writing ideas. We will make a miniature story garden to take home.
