"I am writing to tell you something you already know.
Your department of aged care has the most outstanding women I have ever known. They work so hard, are so caring and full of compassion.
The work that goes into organising all the great outings and lectures must be very demanding and I do not know how they are always so kind, caring and smiling.
They have great ideas for days filled with lots of fun and laughter. So many of use are always looking forward to the next time we all get together."
"Many thanks to the Council for these programmes which are enjoyed by so many.
We are looked after by your caring and expert organisers. They are wonderful girls and it is a joy to be in their company.
I take advantage of so many outings, exercise classes and talks that there is no time for feeling lonely and this is so important for the elderly.
I sincerely hope the Council is able to continue this wonderful service as it is enjoyed and appreciated by so many".
"Everything ran smoothly, these outings give me a lot of pleasure - being taken in the bus to places I would not attempt by myself - gets me out of the house!"
"Approval of Concept Plan and naming of the Reserve
The preservation of the Carcoola Rd reserve was an issue which dates back to when after the RTA abandoned their plan’s to put a road through to Belrose in the early 90s.
We’d like to thank the council for its acquisition of the 2/3 of the Carcoola Rd Reserve land owned by the state in 2012, following the neighborhood petition back in 2010 and the lobbying thereafter.
From 2010 through to 2015 we were consistent in our messages for the preservation of the natural appearance of the reserve. Following a series of close consultations between the community representatives and the council, we endorsed the design which largely maintains the appearance of the reserve and provides improvements for kids and parents for generations to come. We would like to thank the Director of Strategy & Environment and the Landscape Architect team for their design partnering consultative approach in maintaining the delicate balance of the various interest groups.
After more than two decades of uncertainty on the fate of the reserve, we now have a community endorsed design and reserve identify ‘Lapwing Reserve’ based on local birds which nest there.
We thank the council again for working together to achieve a better community outcome. We look forward to working with the team during the detailed design phase."
"Not just this...but the whole performance of Ku-ring-gai Council. Well done!! Compared to so many other councils, ours has so much to offer; is so well organized with events and highlights; and makes having our say achievable and easy. Thank you for a job well done."
"This is a great improvement to the access to Gordon West Public School. As you are aware the school is growing and there are more and more families accessing GWPS. My family and I have personally used the path at least twice a day since school has begun.
Once again thank you."
"Thank you for your response to my letter re paving condition in Beechworth Road. I am pleased to report that the work was completed late February to a high standard with only a small slip in co-ordination. Residents are delighted after so much delay. Our thanks to all concerned."
"I want to let you know how pleased I am with the excellent work being undertaken by Council’s Bushland Maintenance staff at Princes Park. They have carefully planned and conducted the burn which can be seen from Polding Road. A hot burn like this takes a lot of preparation but is the most effective way of stimulating regeneration of the Critically Endangered Ecological community. It will be exciting to watch the germination and growth of native plants from seed stored in the soil. Fortunately the site will be fenced to avoid damage from rabbits and people walking through. We will be able to see plenty from outside the fence. The burn and the regeneration of the forest will give added incentive to the Bushcare Group which tackles weeds two mornings a month.
I would appreciate it if you could pass on to the Directors and their staff my appreciation".
"... Concerning the uncontrolled drainage of water down Turramurra Avenue from under the block of apartments at Nos 20-28.
I am delighted that the problem has now been fixed very effectively as a result of the work by Council in diverting the flow of water underground. It was especially pleasing that the work was completed without the need to excavate a length of the nature strip for a new underground pipe. For the first time in over four years the outside gutter is now dry and free from the continual flow of water from under the apartments. A great improvement.
On behalf of the five households involved - Nos 30 to 40 - I should like to express thanks to you and the Council personnel who were responsible for the work. Particularly I wish to thank Alexander Lyle for his continual involvement in the project and his patience in dealing courteously with my fairly frequent phone calls".
"Just want to let you know how delighted everyone is with the regular mowing [at Pymble Dog Park]. It looks really great. The grass is being kept nice and short, making it easier to keep the dogs clean and dry, to find balls and, of course, giving few excuses for "not finding" the droppings. Wonderful. Please pass on our thanks to the maintenance/mowing team".
“I’m thrilled to see that old roses were planted near Roseville Station. The area looks much better now! Please pass on my thanks to all Council staff involved.”
"Hearty congratulations and thank you for organising the latest improvements and developments at Turramurra Oval.
Two of my grandchildren and I spent an energetic, happy morning trying out the new table tennis tables. Everyone shared, children made new friends and grandmas did too. I was so pleased to see that even the bats and ping pong balls were provided. What a delightful community area.
The boys loved playing on the climbing frame. At one stage there must have been 30 happy kids swarming all over it, climbing, running, laughing and some just perched inside it enjoying the ride. Not one child was hurt or afraid. What fun and great exercise.
My two boys did a couple of laps around the oval for good measure with their new mates, stretched on the gym equipment and then collapsed on the swinging hammocks. We were thrilled to see that the flying fox is almost completed too.
This was the first day for a while that has been cool enough to play properly in the park. We will certainly return whenever we can. Parking is easy, we are shaded by lovely trees and the park is a lovely place to be.
As a long time ratepayer, I can only extend my thanks to you and to your construction teams for providing such an exciting facility."
"I also wanted to pass on my congratulations on the new website / mobile site. It's really simple and easy to use".
"I have just used the website and found that it is the best, clearest and easiest I have ever seen for a council. The person/people who set it up are to be congratulated. The council also appears to be one of the best in opportunities for the residents".
