Do you know a deserving senior? Nominate them for an award.
The 2018 Seniors Mayoral Awards are open for nominations until Wednesday 28 February.
The awards recognise outstanding individuals over 65 years old, or groups supporting older people in the Ku-ring-gai community.
The Seniors Mayoral Awards are presented every year as part of the Council’s Seniors Festival. This year there are two categories:
- Outstanding individual - an older person who demonstrates an outstanding contribution to the Ku-ring-gai community.
- Outstanding community group – a community service group that is providing support to older residents in the community.
“If you know an amazing older volunteer, or a group that has excelled in serving older residents in the Ku-ring-gai community, this is a great opportunity to give them the recognition they deserve,” said Mayor Jennifer Anderson.
The Seniors Mayoral Awards will be presented by Mayor Anderson on Tuesday 20 March at Turramurra Uniting Church Hall, followed by lunch in the Meals on Wheels Dining Room.
During the Council’s Seniors Festival in March and April, around 40 activities for older residents aged 60 plus will be offered, many of them free. These include fermenting, flower arranging, local history, pottery painting, Tai Chi and ballet, as well as the chance tell your life story. There will also be tours of the Community Garden at Turramurra, the Baha'i Temple and other excursions.
