Exercise classes for seniors

Published on 16 January 2018

Seniors are invited to join Ku-ring-gai Council’s Functional Fitness classes, designed to improve fitness and overall health.

Beginning in late January, Council will partner with Master Trainer Sally Castell from Movement Matters to host the 10-week series of functional fitness classes. With over 40 years of experience as a qualified physiotherapist, Sally has spent her career working in hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

The classes are designed to address health and fitness concerns particularly relevant to the less active mature adult. Focus areas will include falls prevention, strengthening the back and mobility training, balance and coordination. The cost for all 10 classes is $102.

Fallproof classes specifically aimed at preventing falls will take place at Gordon Library on Wednesday afternoons from January 31 until March 28.

Back to Basics meanwhile will focus on strengthening the back and will be held on Tuesday mornings at Church of Christ Hall in North Turramurra beginning January 30 until March 27. Please note participants of these classes must be mobile enough to complete floor exercises.

These classes are very popular every year and bookings will be taken on a first come first served basis. Bookings can be made via the Council’s website at www.kmc.nsw.gov.au/seniors or in person at the customer service centre, 818 Pacific Highway Gordon.

For enquiries please call the Council’s Aged Services team on 9424 0836.
