Ku-ring-gai Council and the CSIRO will co-host a free forum for business start-ups on Thursday 18 May at Lindfield.
Called Turning Concepts into Cash, the forum is aimed at anyone who has a good idea that they want to turn into a profitable business.
The half day forum will take place between 9am and 1pm on 18 May at the CSIRO’s centre at Bradfield Road Lindfield.
The first part of the forum will hear real life stories from three successful people who have made their good ideas a business reality.
James Chin Moody is the successful co-founder and CEO of Sendle, an innovative delivery company for small businesses. Brian Dorricott is the CEO of Slingshot Accelerator, a platform to connect start-ups with corporate organisations. Fiona Anson is co-founder of Workible, a job sharing platform for job seekers and advertisers.
The fourth speaker Anna Groscholsky is the Director of Innovation and Commercialisation at Macquarie University and specialises in intellectual property.
Following presentations from the speakers, budding businesspeople will be able to talk to experts from the NSW Department of Industry, NSW Business Connect, the CSIRO and other entrepreneurs on how to get funding and other help to turn their concept into cash.
Mayor Jennifer Anderson said May’s free forum was building on the successful partnership between the CSIRO and the Council which began last year.
“This forum brings together experts with a proven track record in helping people with good ideas make them a commercial reality,” the Mayor said. “It’s a very exciting development in our business networking program.”
