Photo exhibition on for young and old

Published on 10 April 2018

The Moment in Their Lives photo competition has attracted some striking entries from young photographers capturing images of older people in the community.

The photo competition was held as part of Ku-ring-gai Council’s Seniors Festival and was aimed at local photographers aged between 12 and 21 years old.

Moments in Their Lives aimed to document older people who are important to younger people in the community and as a result, deepen understanding between the generations.

Entries will be on exhibition at St Ives Shopping Village from this week until Friday 20 April and prize winners announced on Wednesday 11 April when Mayor Jennifer Anderson will launch the exhibition. First prize is $500 cash, with runners up awarded gift cards.

The community is invited to select a special ‘People’s Choice’ award from the eleven entries submitted, which will be announced after the exhibition closes. Click here to vote for your People’s Choice award on Facebook or drop your vote in at the exhibition at St Ives Shopping Village.

The Council’s Seniors Festival spans March and April, with over 40 activities aimed at older residents, many of them free.
