Residents can now have a story read to them over the internet by actors, authors, comedians and other famous people.
‘Story Box’ is an online library full of videos of Australian authors, comedians, actors, musicians and illustrators reading Australian stories aloud.
Library patrons can access the free service using their library card number. To access the service, simply visit storyboxlibrary.com.au and log in via the Public Library option.
The Story Time service is perfect for busy parents who don’t have time to visit the library during the day, or patrons who are unable to visit the library for other reasons.
Other story time activities for pre-schoolers are available at all four Ku-ring-gai libraries at St Ives, Turramurra, Lindfield and Gordon.
The ‘Rock-a-Bye’ and ‘Rock-n-Rhyme’ sessions are designed for babies through to toddlers aged up to three and combine music, songs and reading to encourage word formation. Sessions are held throughout the week.
For older pre-schoolers aged 3-5, Ku-ring-gai libraries also offer story-telling and simple craft sessions.
All story times are free to library patrons – click here to find out more.
