Sunday sounds at the Wildflower Garden

Published on 26 February 2018

Close out the summer in style during March with free Sunday afternoon concerts at the Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, starting on Sunday 11 March.

Three free concerts are on offer during the Sunday Sound Garden series in March, kicking off with country singer Luke O’Shea.

Nine-time Golden Guitar winner and the 2012 and 2014 Australian Independent Country Music Artist of the Year, Luke is a singer and songwriter who has spent much of his musical career touring the world.

With his storytelling and powerful live shows, Luke is famed for his classic Australian country sound. Luke O’Shea will headline the first free concert at the Wildflower Garden between noon and 3pm on Sunday 11 March.

The following Sunday 18 March will be a showcase for soulful R&B with Glenn Rhodes.

Glenn is one of Australia’s most respected musicians and director/producers. As well as working with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Thelma Houston and Dionne Warwick, Glenn is an exceptional artist in his own right. He has performed, written and recorded locally and internationally, bringing together a fusion of jazz, soul and R&B.

The final free concert will be on Sunday 25 March with the unmistakeable sounds of Latin salsa and jazz performed by Victor Martinez Parada.

Victor is an internationally renowned solo guitarist, recognized as one of the finest avant-garde guitarists ever to come from his native country of Chile. He is an accomplished composer, teacher, and performer specializing in flamenco, jazz, and Latin folk music. He will be joined by his son Andro Martinez on electric guitar and dynamic vocalist Lilian Goerrero.

To keep children entertained, Wildflower Garden rangers will be presenting a native wildlife show during performance breaks at the concerts.

Food and drinks are available to purchase at the venue or patrons can bring their own picnic – please note that BYO alcohol is not permitted.

Free parking is available at the Wildflower Garden at 420 Mona Vale Road St Ives. Concerts will be performed between noon and 3pm each day.
