Sydney’s famous kite flying festival comes to St Ives Showground

Published on 6 February 2020

The Sydney Kite Flying Festival will stop in at the Showground for one day only on Sunday 15 March between 10am and 6pm.

The Festival has previously appeared at Castle Hill Showground, Cronulla and Blacktown this summer.

For anyone who’s a fan of colourful kites filling the skies, this is a not-to-be-missed event.

Organisers say they expect hundreds of kites to be flown on the day, as has been the case at previous venues.

For those wanting to take part, kites and flying gear can be purchased at the event. For safety reasons the public are not permitted to bring their own kites.

Admission to the festival and parking are free, but those planning to attend are asked to pre-register so sufficient kites can be made available.

Other attractions include food and drink stalls, live music with an all-day DJ, amusement rides and children’s entertainment.

The kite flying festival is the latest high-profile event to come to the Showground, as the Council implements its policy of encouraging more visitors to the St Ives venue.

The next big event planned is the Tiny Homes Expo in March, featuring the latest in architectural designs and innovation for small scale properties.

The Showground is located at 450 Mona Vale Road St Ives.
