Over 150 children have contributed tiles to the stunning garden mural at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre.
Over the past 18 months, local children have participated in the “Telling Our Stories with Clay” program at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre in Roseville.
The program has given children the skills to create clay tiles from scratch to contribute to an expansive mural along the centre’s courtyard vegetable garden.
Many of the children who participated were fourth generation patrons of the Art Centre, with enthusiasm for the project so high that some attended several sessions.
The mural will be unveiled by TV personality and celebrity gardener Indira Naidoo at a free event on Sunday 22 October.
Ms Naidoo is one of Australia’s most popular broadcasters and authors, with a journalistic career that has spanned 30 years. More recently, she is known for championing the cause of growing your own food through her book The Edible Garden.
The unveiling will be a family friendly affair, with a BBQ provided by Rotary, light refreshments and a photo booth.
Those attending are encouraged to download the ‘In the Booth’ smartphone app before arriving so they can print their selfies and download digital copies of photos taken.
The event will take place at Ku-ring-gai Art Centre at 3 Recreation Avenue, Roseville from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
Attendees are advised that parking is limited and are encouraged to take advantage of public transport.
