The system is being installed on Monday 18 June and will come into effect by Friday 22 June.
The new system will have a better user interface for accessing the library’s online services.
Features include predicative searching, dynamic displays and more control over how notifications about library services are received.
During the installation period between 18 and 22 June, borrowers will be unable to renew books, view the library catalogue or download e-books Those e-books already downloaded before the installation period will be unaffected and all library opening hours will remain unchanged. Free wi-fi will continue as normal.
Mayor Jennifer Anderson said the new system would speed up searching for library items and allow users more freedom when using online services such as e-books.
“The demand for online services at our three libraries is increasing every year. This system will help us better meet that demand in the future.”
