The pressure to be perfect - a book for our times

Author Catherine Greer will join clinical psychologist Mary Arlington-Watt to discuss Catherine’s latest novel Love Lie Repeat.

Ku-ring-gai Council’s Meet Me at the Library event will be held at Gordon Library between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday 30 May.

Published by Penguin Books in March 2019 and set on Sydney’s upper north shore, Love Lie Repeat has been highly recommended for girls aged 12 and up by teachers and librarians across Australia.

Through her novel, Catherine Greer cleverly articulates the pattern of behaviour often prevalent in highly competitive friendship cliques among teenage girls, while at the same time delivering a gripping thriller.

Love Lie Repeat has been described by critics as ‘chilling’, a novel that will ‘keep you on the edge of your seat’ and a ‘thrilling mystery that is compulsively readable.’

Catherine Greer is an author, blogger and copywriter. Formerly a high school English teacher, Catherine teaches new writers around the world through her online course Write Your Book This Year. Her previous books include Jacaranda Snow and Choosing Happiness.

Joining Catherine will be Mary Arlington-Watt who has over 20 years of experience as a clinical psychologist. Mary specialises in a range of clinical support including anxiety management, parenting, relationship counselling and emotional regulation.

Mary will explore how Love Lie Repeat reflects some patterns of behaviour that can be seen in our own teenage daughters – and what to do about it.

Bookings are essential for this free event as space is limited; to book call Gordon Library on 9424 0120 or email The library is located at 799 Pacific Highway Gordon.
