Features of this walk include scenic outlooks of the upper Lane Cove River valley, rock outcrops, heath, woodlands and closed forest, and quiet shady creeks.
The area offers excellent bird watching opportunities for bushland species such as Grey Fantails, Yellow Robins and Red-browed Finches. You may even see uncommon or rare birds like the Pacific Baza, Powerful Owl or Gang Gang Cockatoo.
Quiet observers may see other wildlife including frogs, water dragons or native fish in and around the creeks.
The track gets its name from a local environmental group STEP Inc who have produced several maps and books of walking track in the upper Lane Cove valley.
