Festival on the Green 2012
Ku-ring-gai Council's 2012 Festival on the Green was a huge success on Sunday May 6. The combination of perfect weather, and popular children's act, Dora the Explorer helped draw a record crowd of 20,000 people during the six-hour event.
The audience was astounded by the talented performers from Brophy's Circus Carousel Show, which included aerial acrobatics, tight wire, German wheel and whips and lassos.
Local community choirs, bands and dance groups entertained everyone with their fantastic performances all day.
The circus skills workshop held under the huge inflatable air tent was a hit with children, as were the baby animal farm and face painting.
Roaming stilt walkers, in their beautiful blossom and praying mantis costumes, surprised audiences throughout the day.
The mini train was packed all day taking families to the upper oval for amusement rides and to practice in the Stealer's Baseball batting cage.
The wide array of arts and crafts, gourmet food stalls from around the globe, wine stalls and various community and Council stalls were busy all day.
There was something for everyone with dog training demonstrations by Northern Suburbs dog training, tennis and mini golf activities, as well as yoga and fitness workshops.
The State Emergency Services did an outstanding job conducting traffic management, and St John Ambulance kept the crowds safe providing first aid.
The NSW Police and the Mounted Police and Police mascot, Constable Charlie the penguin also came along.
Festival on the Green was proudly presented and coordinated by Ku-ring-gai Council. It also couldn't have happened without:
