Sustainability Plan for Ku-ring-gai & Community Strategic Plan 2030
Council is currently developing a sustainability plan for Ku-ring-gai, to preserve our unique environment for future generations.
Sustainability Vision Report
The Sustainability Vision Report forms the foundation of Council's sustainability plan spanning 25 years from 2008-2033.
Compiling the report involved significant consultation with community members and Council. Citizens aged from 9 - 99 years of age shared their concerns and aspirations for the future from social, environmental, economic and governance perspectives.
It is the intention of Council to align this long-term vision with its Management Plan in order to strategically address sustainability issues within Ku-ring-gai. This process of long-term planning is consistent with the directions of the NSW Department of Local Government.

Community Strategic Plan 2030
During May and June 2008 residents of all ages came together in a series of forums to share their ideas on how to make Ku-ring-gai a leading sustainable community. A total of 747 actions were suggested by participants. The resulting document, the Ku-ring-gai Community Strategic Plan 2030, outlines Council's long term directions, encapsulating the aspirations of the community with input from staff and Councillors.
The foundation of the plan is for Ku-ring-gai to become a more sustainable place. Our approach adheres to that of the NSW State Government's Division of Local Government and is linked with the four-year Delivery Program and Operational Plan.
Ku-ring-gai to Global DVD
To assist the development of the sustainability plan, Ku-ring-gai Council produced a DVD highlighting Ku-ring-gai's culture and its unique natural and built heritage. Local people of Ku-ring-gai participated in the production of the short documentary, sharing their thoughts and ideas on sustainability now and into the future.
Copies of the DVD are available at all Ku-ring-gai libraries. Requests for extra copies can be directed to:
