Draft Development Control Plan (Town Centres) 2009
Council resolved to exhibit and seek public comment on the Draft Ku-ring-gai Development Control Plan (Town Centres) 2009 (draft DCP) in accordance with Clause 18 of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000. The draft DCP provides detailed controls to guide the design and assessment of development on land in and around the Gordon, St Ives, Turramurra, Pymble, Lindfield an Roseville centres, which is covered by draft Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan (Town Centres) 2008 (KLEP 2008).
While the draft DCP conforms to the provisions of the KLEP 2008 and is to be used in conjunction with that document for the assessment of all development applications, legislation requires that this DCP cannot be inconsistent with any of the provisions of the KLEP 2008 nor prevent compliance with any provision of the KLEP 2008.
The draft DCP was on exhibition from Friday 7 August to Friday 4 September 2009, the exhibition has now finished and Ku-ring-gai Council staff will consider all submissions made during the exhibition period.
Planning for the Comprehensive Ku-ring-gai Local Environmental Plan
Council has started working towards the Principal LEP for the whole of the Ku-ring-gai local government area which is required to be gazetted in 2011.
The work to date has included initial investigations into open space, employment, bushfire and climate change, built heritage, biodiversity, water management and Aboriginal heritage.
Biodiversity mapping and assessment
As part of the research for the Ku-ring-gai LEP, an extensive biodiversity mapping and assessment process is underway. See Item GB.3 Community Information Session Biodiversity Mapping. The information will form part of the Local Environmental Study which is required to guide the LEP.
