DA Christmas Notification


Development applications submitted between December 10, 2009 and January 23, 2010 (both days inclusive) that require notification to surrounding properties will have an extended notification period due to Christmas and New Year holidays.   The notification period will close on February 13, 2010 but may be further extended for some applications lodged in this period to comply with Council's notification policy.

Duty Officer Service

We provide a duty officer service every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (9.00am - 12.00pm and 2.00pm - 5.00pm). 
During these times our duty officer can provide general information on Council's codes and policies but is not able to discuss concepts that relate to a specific site or plan.

Pre-DA Consultation

Development Application Procedure

Applications will be taken at the Customer Services Centre (818 Pacific Highway Gordon) between the hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

In order to improve the speed and quality of development assessment undertaken in Ku-ring-gai, we are introducing new standards for development application (DA) submissions. The new requirements are included in our new document we have called the 'DA Guide'.

From 15 July 2004 all DAs submitted to us must conform to the requirements of the Development Application Guide  Download DA_Guide.pdf DA_Guide.pdf (741KB) . In addition, all DAs will have to be submitted using the Development Application Form & Checklist Download DA_Application_Form4.pdf DA Application Form (337KB) The Checklist will assist in verifying that each DA meets the required standard.

We will not accept your DA until we are satisfied that you have provided all the necessary plans and documentation, and they are to an acceptable standard.

 

Why Set Standards for Development Applications (DAs)?

When we assess a DA it is very important that we have access to all the right information and that it can be easily understood.  Applications that:

  • are submitted with information missing
  • are poorly labelled
  • are inaccurate
  • are incomplete, or
  • have not been designed appropriately

cause major delays because we will have to spend time seeking information or clarification.  DAs that are unsatisfactory in detail or of unsuitable design will result in the DA being refused.

To ensure that your DA is assessed as quickly and efficiently as possible, we want to inform you of our expectations before you begin to prepare your proposal.

 

What Does the DA Guide Say?

The new DA Guide requirements specify:

  • the types of documentation required for each development
  • the information that must be included in each type of documentation
  • the quality of documentation required, and
  • the number of copies of documentation required

As well as setting documentation standards, the DA Guide is also a step-by-step guide for you explaining everything from the preliminary investigation stage through concept and final design. The guide explains what happens to your DA once you have submitted it to us so that you know what to expect and how to find out about the progress of your DA.

 

Express Assessment Service
