Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden
General Information
Location and opening hours
The Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden, located at 420 Mona Vale Road, St Ives, covers 123 hectares of urban bushland on the northern edge of Sydney's North Shore.
The Wildflower Garden is open every day from 8am to 4pm, except Christmas Day and Good Friday.
No dogs or other pets allowed in the Wildflower Garden - fines may apply
Entry to the Wildflower Garden is free of charge, unless in a coach or minibus or group utilising the Education Centre, where charges still apply.
Physical features
Located between the suburbs and Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, it features:
- heath land
- tall forest
- sandstone outcrops
- ponds, gullies and waterfalls
Walking tracks
Managed by Ku-ring-gai Council, the Garden offers a range of walking tracks, from the wheelchair and stroller friendly Senses Track to the more challenging Mueller Track.
Facilities
Facilities include display areas, ponds, boardwalks, a fern house, open air and undercover picnic areas, as well as plenty of on-site parking.
Programs at the Bushland Education Centre
The Garden also incorporates the Bushland Education Centre, providing a range of Environmental Education programs for the community, such as Bush Birthday Parties, Playgroup, Pre-School and School Programs, Bush Kids School Holiday Program and Nature for the Very Young activities.
Programs can also be arranged for Seniors, ESL and CALD groups.
The North Shore Group of the Australian Plant Society hold a Walks and Talks program at the Wildflower Garden on Mondays during term time. For information and Program details please visit their website: http://www.blandfordia.org.au/
