Public ArtPublic Art in Ku-ring-gai

Council's Download public_art_policy.pdf Public Art Policy (186KB) aims to 'guide and encourage the exhibition and inclusion of art within public places, ensuring the valued characteristics of Ku-ring-gai are enhanced'.

Council's Collection of Artwork

Ku-ring-gai Council has a collection of some 200 artworks that have been documented for a Public Arts Register. The collection includes 40 original woodblock engravings by Lionel Lindsay and photographs by Harold Cazneaux. Other works in the collection are by well respected members of the Ku-ring-gai Art Society.


Exhibiting Your Art in Ku-ring-gai

Ku-ring-gai's artists and art/cultural organisations are encouraged to exhibit their artwork with a number of options being available.

Artists can hire gallery space based on availability at the Ku-ring-gai Art Centre or display their works in Gordon Library.

Council also accepts larger outdoor sculptures 'on loan' for public display (conditions apply). The 'red exhibition wall' in the foyer in the Council building at Gordon is also available to exhibit artworks. Acquisition of Outdoor Public Art Pieces

Council has been able to fund the acquisition of several outdoor public art pieces over the last five years. Through the recently adopted Section 94 Development Contribution Plan (which allocates 1% of development contributions toward the acquisition of public art) Council aims to increase its' acquisitions.
