Dog friendly parks with off-leash areas
There are currently 20 off-leash areas within the Ku-ring-gai local government area, plus Turramurra Memorial Park with a trial dog off-leash area.
Rules
When using these areas it is important to note:
- Dogs must be under the effective control of a competent person at all times.
- Clean up after your dog and dispose of dog litter in bins provided.
- Dogs are not permitted off-leash on ovals during organised sports and games, and are not permitted off-leash in the surrounding parks/reserves at any time.
- Dogs must be put on-leash when leaving this off-leash area.
- Keep dogs 10 metres away from playgrounds and food areas.
- Dogs must be on-leash at all times in bushland.
- Penalties apply under the Companion Animals Act 1998
- Failure to comply with notices displayed at Council ovals/parks/reserves is an offence under Section 632 of the Local Government Act.
- Strictly no dogs are allowed at Fiddens Wharf Sportsground. This sportsground is in the boundary of the national park with council maintaining the site for sporting clubs and casual use. Dogs are not permitted in national parks and therefore are not permitted at this sportsground. It is an offence under the National Parks and Wildlife Regulations and the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 to have a dog in a national park. Fines will be enforced if this is breached.
There are different rules that apply when taking your dog into Ku-ring-gai's bushland. More on dogs in bushland
